Mamma Mia: How Donna REALLY Met the Dads

While I truly enjoyed Mamma Mia 2, it didn't agree with my own long-held interpretations of the characters based on the original musical. Bill was spot on, but surely Sam and Harry were a little more than one-night stands. (read more)

I have a lot of thoughts about writing. All writers think about writing a lot, but all writers advise new writers not to write about writing, because only people who write care about writing enough to read about it (writing, that is). This leads to a group of slightly odd people reading about writing and writing about writing and repeating a lot of the same stuff and not really achieving anything. (read more)

From Always Sunny to Adventure Time: What Shows Just Get It?

I was out with a friend recently who, à propos to nothing, said, ‘do you ever watch something that just makes you feel seen?’. She was referring to that episode of Netflix easy with the lesbians, where one pretends that she is a cool bike-riding vegan to impress the other. And she’s right. That episode really does capture something about the culture of women-who-love-other-women. Because the writer just gets it. (read more)
